Chocolate shrimp or the Black Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) were selectively bred from the common Cherry Shrimp. Because of this, they sometimes have a deep red tint to them which is only noticeable in certain light. This creates a very striking color form of the Cherry Shrimp. Once Chocolate Shrimp get settled in, they are very prolific breeders. Shrimp do get preyed on by fish large enough to fit in their mouth. Therefore its important to have lots of hiding places or heavily planted aquariums. They will feed on algae; however, you should still feed high quality shrimp pellets for a varied diet.
